| Pyrography...What is it? Answer: Pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker. It is also known as pokerwork or wood burning. Pyrography means "writing with fire" and is the traditional art of using a heated tip or wire to burn or scorch designs onto natural materials such as wood or leather. Burning can be done by means of a modern solid-point tool (similar to a soldering iron) or hot wire tool, or a more basic method using a metal implement heated in a fire, or even sunlight concentrated with a magnifying lens. |
| How Long does it take from the time I order one to the completed Artwork? This is usually determined by the amount of detail that goes into the piece. |
| How much does this cost? I start portraits out at $125.00 w/deposit. Other commissioned work (Racecar woodburnings) are based on around $65.00 w/deposit. "This is car only" anything extra will be added into cost. |
| How do I order one? First you would find a detailed high resolution picture of what you wanted woodburned. This would have to be emailed to me as I use this as a refrence photo for the detail of the Artwork. Once I had the picture I will be able to give you a better estimate on the cost of the artwork. After that is completed I finish the woodburning and email you a scanned in picture of the Art for approval by you. After I have approval and all is good I spray (3 coats) of UV protected matte finish polyurethane finish to protect the product. |
| How Big can we Go? I tend to stay with 8x10 and smaller. I can get larger plaques but that will increase the cost. |
| Can these be put outdoors? I will say no to this because of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will fade the woodburning. I do have a UV protective coating applied but this is just my opinion. The overall decision is yours on this one. I recommend not to. |
| How can I pay ? I receive payments many different ways. Through personal check, Money order, or PayPal. I am able to take payments for commissioned work through PayPal accepting any major Creditcard. If you do not have an account with PayPal it is easy to set one up....and it is Free. I do require a 30% downpayment to start the work. If paying by Personal check I wait till the check clears before I start. No exceptions |

| Material Used for Artwork? I use Basswood and Aspen. I prefer Basswood due to the almost white appearance of the wood. It is easier to woodburn because of the graining |
